The third single from ST 2 Lettaz’s March album, The G…The Growth & Development (following “Trillmatic” and “The Crown”) is “Green Light District,” an ode to “weed and drink” fitted with an appropriately foggy video. Like the best impulses of ST’s former group G-Side, who broke up in September, it makes a lot out of a little. Set in one room, ST is surrounded by his friends, plus some evil college-dorm party atmosphere, thanks to plenty of smoke, frantic rays of light, and everybody turn-up-hands-ing to the squishy, trap-tinged Block Beattaz production. In between the weed shout-outs (and zingers about how wack your stuff is), ST jokes that he was rejected from the kind of colleges that now pay him to perform, and boasts about how full his Gmail inbox is at the moment. Also, the way he says “garbage” when he raps, “That shit you got is garbage” is really rewarding. It’s just more evidence, if you even needed it, that even after G-Side, ST remains charismatically down to earth. - VIA SPIN
We’ve got three excellent shows lined up for your listening enjoyment this summer at Vertical House Records! Come out and enjoy the last summer on earth with us!
Happenin Records presents the first ever HAPPENIN FEST on June 30, 2012! Close to ten bands will be performing inside (and outside) of Vertical House Records in Huntsville, Alabama from 5:00pm – 1:00am.
For a simple $8 cover, attendees will get to rock out and drink beer with us until we decide to close up shop. We’ll be debuting new cassettes, giving away free vinyl, and hooking certain people up with limited edition posters.
Kegs will be tapped, but you gotta be 21+ to fall down. All ages are welcome, though!
Help us set off our first Fest, and show your support for this amazing lineup:
- NATURAL CHILD
- TIGER HIGH
- The Porcharitas
- Drew Price’s Bermuda Triangle
- Really Loud Hamburgers
- Nowhere Squares
- Walker Yancey and Furcoats
- Piss Shivers
- Real Frogs
- Circuit Pop
Also… we’ll be cooking out all evening, so bring your grillin’ materials.
So, in summary, you get to see a crazy number of good bands (including NATURAL CHILD and TIGER HIGH), you get beer (if you’re of age), you might get some free records and cassettes, you get to hang out in a rad record store, and you can cook out. Seriously, why would you not come?
Nashville’s Natural Child is making their Huntsville debut with none other than those local gays The Porcharitas, Royal Baths (Brooklyn) and Nightmare Boyzzz (Florence). The Porcharitas have a new 7 inch EP dropping at the beginning of March on Vertical House Records! The show is free and will be held at Voodoo Lounge (downtown on the square in Huntsville).
We’re back after 3 months and we’re ready to make Huntsville laugh, so come out to the show that American Idol host Ryan Seacrest called “dope” and “fly” and “the best thing I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot”
Friday January 27th, your comedians include Landon Traller, Nicole Boquette, Scott Eason, Jason Steinhauser, Tom Hand, Sam McLeroy, and Stephen Claybrooks. And as always, hosted by me, Justin Ledlow
New jokes! All R-rated material! We don’t do clean comedy in this joint (not that we can’t, it’s just we know you’re all a bunch of dirty animals so we wanna deliver)
8 PM, doors will be open around 7:30, and it’s still only $5! Cheap entertainment yall!
Also, the Flying Monkey is a BYOB environment, so stop asking me if we’ll be serving drinks – we’re not, because we’re not a damn catering company, so get off your ass and bring your own booze
